game6_small Nice win this week. It was a great team effort, especailly with the injuries the team worked through.

Thanks for your support in the stands... especially Tony Karem for the extra attention on the field and sidelines!

With the injuries, we'll need everyone to step up this week against Notre Dame in the first round of the playoffs.

Game 5 vs. Notre Dame

game5_small We had a great game against Notre Dame... we scored to take it to 20 - 20 with 26 seconds left on the clock. Notre Dame was able to run 5 plays and scored on a 40 yard pass play to win with no time on the clock... tough loss, but our team looked like the team we are.

Overall, every area (offense, defense and special teams) looked better this week. We played a very aggressive game. We will need to do this going into our game in 2 weeks vs. St. Athanasius!

Game 4 vs. St. Edward

game4_small This wasn't a tough game like the previous two... St. Edwards brought it to us and we didn't answer, except in the 2nd half when our second teams played each other.

As you could see tonight, football is an aggressive sport and St. Edwards was aggressive. We have the potential to be very good, but we have a hard time fighting through adversity... the last two games we fumbled on the first drive and we lost our focus. Today, we weren't ready.

Another tough game yesterday...

Offense: Much better job at blocking backside (last few games we were not doing well there). Sam and Hays did an excellent job of running hard. We need to work on blocking outside the Tackles... the defensive ends/outside LBs gave us fits all day. Grade: B

Tough game yesterday... the players did not look like the players I know. Chalk it up to me... we'll do a better job of preparing this week!

Offense: At times we had holes most of us could run through, but only for split seconds. We have to improve on sustaining our blocks till the whistle blows. Grade: C

Offense: We owned the field in the 1st quarter. Great work by all! In the second quarter they found a way to slow us down, but not stop us. We have some things to work on... and we'll add some new wrinkles this week & next. Grade: A

Jamboree Game vs Holy Family

20090823-56-JamboreeVsHolyFamily059 Traveling out to St. Denis for a late afternoon game, the 5th / 6th grade team came to play, taking a 22 point lead into the 4th quarter. The jamboree game gave us a chance to give our young team reps on offense and defense.

For parents with 6th grade players from last year, Holy Family is a single A team. This week we'll be playing St. Martha which is a perennial AA or AAA team and would be similar to St. Mary's or Holy Spirit from last year.
